Love and Sorrow in the Bird World

This email going around, and sent to me by my friend Lorin. I thought it was nice and wanted to pass it on. The pictures were not taken by me.

Swallows: Here his wife is injured and the condition is fatal. She was hit by a car as she swooped low across the road.

Here he brought her food and attended to her with love and compassion.

He brought her food again but was shocked to find her dead. He tried to move her....a rarely-seen effort for swallows!

Aware that his sweetheart is dead and will never come back to him again, he cries with adoring love.

He stood beside her, saddened of her death.

Finally aware that she would never return to him, he stood beside her body with sadness and sorrow.

Millions of people cried after watching this picture in America and Europe and even in India. It is said that the photographer sold these pictures for a nominal fee to the most famous newspaper in France. All copies of that newspaper were sold out on the day these pictures were published. And many people think animals don't have a brain or feelings?????

'Sam' the koala

Here is a link to a very sweet story about a koala bear who was rescued from the recent fires in Australia.
Check out the BBC video: 'Sam' the koala rescued from fires

Thanks to Liz for pointing it out!

Kitties!

We got our first set of foster kitties this past week! There are 4 of them, and they are all very sweet and cute. We are not sure if they are from the same litter or not and they came from the local no kill shelter (CLAWS). They are still to young to get fixed so they are staying with us till that time. Then they will go to the local PetSmart on the weekends to be adopted. The ones that are not adopted will come back home with us during the week until they find a home. Pretty good situation for all of us I think!

Group Shot

Gray kitty (dominant, largest of the kitties)

Black kitty (mellow, content to just sit back and watch)

Duma2 (looks and acts just like our 1 year old cat, Duma)

Little Black kitty (she is very talkative, super tiny and loves to be held. We are having fun fattening her up!)

Playing with plastic dinosaurs :)

Another group shot, their first day home with us!
