Thanksgiving travels

We had a very nice drive down to Oklahoma to see my family for Thanksgiving. We took our new dog with us and he did really well on the drive. On the way down we had a chance to stop at the Sternberg Museum (which was really nice)...

...and then took a research day down to Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History.

It was good to see family and eat yummy food too, of course. Saturday morning we had a flock of turkeys walk through my grandpa's back yard. I guess they figured it was safe to come out.

Everything had been going really well until we were headed home, about an hour down the road. Our dog got really sick and puked all over the back seat. I got him out of the car just before the other end "blew" - it was pretty gross! So we had to deal with puke/diarrhea all the way back to Colorado and took him to the ER on Saturday night when we got to Colorado Springs. I have never seen a dog puke so much! 8 times in a day! It was pretty bad. He was really dehydrated so we had to leave him there over night, which sucked, but he is feeling better now, so that is good!

On the way home Sunday we got stuck in a snow storm between Colorado Springs and Denver. It took us 4 hours to get to Denver - it was insane! We finally got off the interstate and made better time on highway 83 but we ended up staying at a friends place in Denver Sunday night. Sounds like that was a good idea also or we would have been getting up to the Eisenhower Tunnel/Vail Pass about the time they closed the road! Alot of people were stranded there Sunday night and had to stay in shelters after the hotels filled up. I am glad we had a nice free bed in Denver with good company. The ride back home Monday was longer than normal but we did not see any accidents, so that is good. We are glad to be back home with our fuzzy family, even if we do have alot of catching up to do.

Nice slide shows.

I'll be passing through Grand Junction on my way to Denver area on about Dec 20th, not sure of exact date yet. Maybe we could meet for coffee or something!

That would be awesome! Do let me know when the time gets closer. I think we are heading out of town on the 21st.
