We are having babies!

...in our garden! Our plants are going nuts and enjoying this crazy weird wet summer we have been having. You can see how small the the veggie garden started off and how the house plants were looking when they were released to the outside in May here.

Our "weird plant" (no idea what it is called) recently put out a new shoot....

The larger aloe plant my grandpa gave me is having babies. Not sure if I should try to move them or just let them be (open to any advice here).

The cycad has had twins since being outside, we are very happy about this. It had a rough winter inside with the cats (all those poor dead ends) and we will need to find it a safer place this winter.

The veggie garden is doing well. We tried to transplant some beans when they started to choke out the tomatoes and peppers, and that pretty much failed. We we started over with the beans in a box all to themselves. They are very happy there.

We currently have three peppers, one of which is turning red.

We also have about five tomatoes, although they are still pretty small and green.

We even have had a sunflower bloom, the offspring of a rouge seed from the bird feeder. It was big before I knew it so I just let it grow and was surprised Friday morning to have a beautiful sunflower in my side yard! I am looking forward to passing the seed it produces on to the birds and save some to plant next summer.

I am going to try some canning this summer/fall so we will see how that goes. Maybe next year we will try to grow more things!

Sweet! Okay, as far as the Aloe goes, you can take the babies (they're colloquially called "pups") off. Maybe leave it another couple of weeks, then try to get 2-3 inches of stem below the surface and make the cut there. Let it dry for a few days until the end is calloused over, then plant in cactus compost, put some gravel on top and water fairly regularly. They should root well.

Also make sure you don't move your cycad until its leaves have finished growing and it's hardened off. Otherwise the leaves will go a bit wiggly.

Oh so very neat! I especially like seeing your peppers - gives me hope!

Thanks Julia - it is good to know what they are really called! Thanks for the advice on how to move them! They are so cute!

The cycad should be outside for several more months if the weather will be normal!

What are you growing SF? We nearly missed the peppers, we did not think they would grow up and be so green (until they started to turn red).

I guess you noticed at my blog: we have zucchini, peppers, kale, tomatoes, mint, and marigolds. The kale and the marigolds have grown the fastest!

I did see your blog post SF - and I realized I had a complete brain fart, because I had seen your previous posts on your garden. It looks really nice!

Fun carrying on a conversation on two different blogs! :D

Time for bed, though.
