Favorite Resturants #2: Tivos Place, Terlingua

Continuing my Favorite Restaurants post, this is my very close #2. Very close.

I found Tivo's Place when I was doing my thesis work in Big Bend National Park, Texas. At the time Tivo's was located on Ranch Road 170, just west of Study Butte on the way to Terlingua. They are now located in the Longhorn Ranch Motel on highway 118 north of Study Butte. They have the most awesome Mexican food I have every had, anywhere. Check out their menu. They make their own chips. I know it is not that hard, but these are always hot and great! The owners were always very nice and friendly to me. When we had the SVP field trip down to Big Bend in 2007 they got swamped (I think I had over 15 people with me), so I got to help them serve the food and drinks. It was great and I was glad to help!

I really love their cheese enchiladas with red sauce. They serve their enchiladas flat rather than rolled, something I do at home occasionally now. I really love their food and suggest this place to anyone looking for some authentic Mexican food in a beautiful setting.

Tivos Place is located in the Longhorn Ranch Motel, Highway 118 South, Terlingua, Texas.
